Job Description
Work alongside a leader who is invested in your growth as a clinician while enjoying flexible, per diem hospitalist work in a collaborative academic environment. A 379-bed teaching hospital in El Paso, Texas, is seeking nurse practitioners and physician assistants for PRN hospitalist coverage. Advanced practice clinicians are valued members of a well-supported care team, working closely with residents and physician colleagues in a setting designed to balance autonomy with collaboration.
This opportunity offers 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) with a manageable workload and strong clinical support. The average daily census is approximately 125 patients, with clinicians seeing 17-20 encounters per shift, supported by residents. Admissions average 3-4 per clinician on days and 8-10 on nights, with the higher end being rare and resident-assisted. The ICU is closed, consisting of 22 beds staffed by intensivists, and full specialty support is available. Clinicians respond to their own patients during codes and assist as needed. The hospital utilizes Meditech as its EMR.
