Hospitalist - PA job located in South Carolina

Position Highlights

Role: Nocturnist Physician Assistant

Setting: Community hospital campus in Myrtle Beach, SC

Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of inpatient or hospitalist experience

Certifications: BLS & ACLS required

Schedule:

• Full-time, 84 hours bi-weekly
• 7-on / 7-off night shift rotation
• No call

Patient Load: Approximately 12 patients per shift

About the Role

The Nocturnist PA will provide 100% inpatient care overnight, working independently while collaborating with onsite physicians, emergency department clinicians, nurses, and support staff. This position is ideal for a highly organized, confident clinician with excellent clinical judgment and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage nighttime inpatient admissions and evaluations
• Perform physical exams and assess acute patient needs
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies
• Develop and execute treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
• Coordinate patient discharges with case management
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation
• Support high-quality, patient-centered care across all encounters

Practice Environment

• Two physicians are onsite during night shifts
• APP operates independently with full nursing and clerical support
• No ICU on this campus
• Emergency physicians assist with codes
• Supervising physicians available at nearby sister campuses
• No procedural requirements
• Candidates with strong hospitalist background preferred

Training & Onboarding

• Structured 6?week orientation program, including:
  • Shadowing experienced APPs
  • Hands-on training
  • Supportive onboarding to ensure confidence in autonomous practice
