Job Description
Electrophysiology- Physician Assistant- Hybrid (inpatient/outpatient)
Position Summary
The Electrophysiology Physician Assistant will play a key role in the comprehensive care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias. This position will rotate between the inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting the University Medicine Associates Electrophysiology (EP) service line in collaboration with attending electrophysiologists. The APP will help deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care, ensuring seamless coordination across the continuum of care. Full-time position with rotation between inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. Monday–Friday with flexibility for occasional paid weekend coverage.
Essential Responsibilities
Outpatient Responsibilities
• Perform new patient evaluations and follow-up visits in the EP clinic (including device management, arrhythmia consultation, and post-procedural care).
• Evaluate and manage patients with atrial fibrillation, flutter, SVT, VT, bradyarrhythmias, and syncope.
• Conduct device interrogations, remote monitoring review, and programming under physician supervision or per protocol.
• Participate in shared medical visits and patient education programs focused on arrhythmia management and lifestyle modification.
• Coordinate care with referring physicians, primary care, heart failure teams, and other subspecialists.
Inpatient Responsibilities
• Perform EP consults and follow-up evaluations on the telemetry and intensive care units.
• Participate in rounding with the EP team, ensuring timely assessment and management of arrhythmia-related issues.
• Provide peri-procedural care for patients undergoing ablations, device implantations, cardioversions, and other EP interventions.
• Manage antiarrhythmic therapy and anticoagulation per established protocols.
• Coordinate discharge planning, patient education, and transition of care to the outpatient setting.
Additional Responsibilities
• Participate in quality initiatives, clinical pathways, and process improvement for EP care.
• Assist in the development of EP protocols and patient education materials.
• Support EP research and registry participation, if applicable.
• Contribute to staff and trainee education regarding arrhythmia management and EP procedures.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in nursing required APRN/NP.
• Current Texas license as an APRN (NP).
• Certification in specialty area (ACNP, FNP) required; board certification preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of cardiovascular experience preferred; electrophysiology experience strongly preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and procedural skills.

• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm recognition, EP diagnostics, and device therapy.
