Position Overview:

(Login for Information) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) on a per diem basis to join our inpatient cardiology team. This position comes with clinical responsibilities at Lawrence Hospital and a minimum shift requirement (2 per month).

The Cardiology APP will play a key role in providing high quality inpatient consultative care, supporting the cardiology service line, and collaborating closely with cardiologists, hospitalists, and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate is a team oriented provider who thrives in a fast paced, community based hospital environment and is committed to delivering exceptional, patient centered cardiovascular care.

Responsibilities

  • Completes inpatient consults and takes calls for the cardiology service line

  • Obtains detailed problem focused history, performs physical examinations and evaluations on consulted Cardiology patients

  • Assesses and treats medical problems and provides direct patient care to cardiology patients

  • Participates in daily cardiology morning huddle and hospital rounds when applicable

  • Writes progress notes and orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests for Cardiology patients

  • Collaborates with the Echo and Stress lab on patients as needed

  • Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions, reviews diagnostic studies, formulates and implements treatment plans for Cardiology patients

  • Presents patients to attending Cardiologist and discusses plan of management

  • Facilitates patient referral to appropriate specialty and aids in discharge planning

  • Assists as needed in providing preoperative evaluation

  • Notifies the attending Cardiologist promptly regarding unusual or unexpected events or patient problems

  • Provides health education to cardiology patients and families, returns phone calls of patients and families as needed

  • Communicate with the primary medical team directly as needed re: patient management and disposition

Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program with certification.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Massachusetts.
- Demonstrated commitment to community-based, equitable, culturally competent care.

Schedule & Employment

- Per diem employment includes malpractice coverage; a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
